Welcome to the Additional Basic Qualification (ABQ) course Primary Division. In this course, you will learn how the standards of practice shape and guide us as lifelong learners in our profession. You will learn the importance of creating positive and inclusive environments for student learning. You will learn how to nurture critical thinkers who are risk takers, global citizens, and successful problem solvers, and learners who persevere in the face of challenges. You will also learn how critical feedback empowers and inspires students to positively reflect on and identify goals for their learning. In this professional learning community, you and your colleagues will critically explore and integrate environmentally sustainable practices, policies, and pedagogies in our practice as educators. Collaboratively, you will work with your colleagues to differentiate educational instruction and assessment using the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework. You will learn the difference between assessment and evaluation, and identify different types of assessment methods, strategies, and tools to provide effective feedback for Primary learners. Course Learning Expectations In this course you will have the opportunity to: explore formative and summative assessment tools for Primary learners to gather information that will help drive instruction gather and share strategies to use and integrate technology to support and enhance student experience, and to develop cross-curricular experiences that are engaging, meaningful, and relevant to learners analyze, summarize, and compare instructional strategies to differentiate learning for the Primary learners create inclusive learning environments that are culturally aware, based on learners' interests and abilities align your goals for student achievement with your school and board's improvement plans for student achievement explore ways to set up a Primary classroom for an optimal learning environment that reflects care, diversity, and equity apply different theories of education and use the knowledge of early childhood development to support Primary learners as they move through different stages of development
