Welcome to the Additional Basic Qualification (ABQ) course Junior Division. Teaching Grades 4, 5, and 6 is an opportunity to explore interesting curriculum topics and concepts, and to work with children who are developing as independent learners. Teachers need to know how to engage Junior students in the learning process and how to help them develop skills they can use to be successful in their challenging teenage years. This course will give you an opportunity to learn about the Junior level learner and investigate ways to structure a dynamic learning environment. You will also explore the topics and concepts in the Ontario curriculum and consider effective planning and implementation. You will have opportunities to look at ways to incorporate assessment, evaluation, and reporting into the daily life of a Junior classroom. By the end of the course, you will have a portfolio of ideas and resources to equip you for the Junior level classroom.
